MTV Base West Africa like every other organization with a creative director and a content writer, created a list.
They tagged it the hottest Nigerian Artiste of 2019 and then they gave us a few criteria to rationalize the said list.
But as expected Nigerians on twitter with an abundance of data and a volley of untested opinions came for the list.

The criteria though clearly stated by MTV Base did nothing to convince Nigerians of its authenticity.

- The artist must have had a big impact in the year 2019, we are talking about airplays, digital downloads, chart rankings and general visibility.
2. Next we would recognize their achievements, accolades , following, local and international attention.
3. Next up is their STYLE!!!! We are talking about how Unique their sound is & what they have done with their music in building their brand.
4. And then their influence with their Music, have they affected the youths in anyway, did they create a dance, did they start a trend?
5. Finally we would take a 360 look at their collaborations, they kind of artist they collaborated with a and the impact the song had.
