The EP kicks off with “Masun” (Don’t Sleep), an ode to the relentless hustle of Nigerian youth. “No Stress” follows as a playful anthem of rebellion, while “Oro Owo” boldly showcases her ambition. Modola’s unique “alté swagger” takes centre stage in “Billing,” and the EP concludes with the charmingly unpredictable tracks, “Talk” and “Kontrolla.”
Modola describes “New Light” as her “love letter to every young woman who refuses to be boxed in.” She adds, “Whether it’s the grind of ‘Masun’ or the freedom of ‘No Stress’, I want my music to remind you—your light doesn’t need permission to shine.”
