Michael B. Jordan reveals how he mentally prepared for steamy ‘Sinners’ scenes

Michael B. Jordan has opened up about filming intimate scenes in Ryan Coogler’s supernatural thriller Sinners, detailing his mental preparation and the emotional depth behind his dual roles as twin brothers in love, per ebony.com.

Sinners, which dives into the shadowy realms of vampirism and the supernatural, a genre rarely explored in Black cinema, also delivers sizzling, intimate moments, with Michael B. Jordan pulling double duty as twin brothers Stack and Smoke, each entangled in passionate relationships.

“There’s a lot of love in this movie,” Jordan told *EBONY* in a recent interview. “The way Smoke loves Annie (Wunmi Mosaku) and the way Stack loves Mary (Hailee Steinfeld) is different, but they love deeply. It’s complex, layered and shaped by their individual struggles.”

Preparing for such steamy scenes required more than just physical readiness, Jordan emphasised the importance of music and mindset. “Everybody was in the right headspace for whatever scene they were doing,” he explained. “It’s about showing compassion and affection, whether it’s romance, conflict or brotherly bonds.”

The film’s emotional core extends beyond lust, weaving love into every interaction—even the tense ones. Jordan credits Coogler’s direction for fostering an environment where raw, authentic connections could flourish.

“We created a space for love throughout the whole movie,” he said.

*Sinners, now playing in theatres, blends supernatural thrills with deeply human relationships, making it perhaps one of the year’s most compelling films.
