Michael B. Jordan confirms Creed universe expansion

Michael B. Jordan has given fans a significant update on the future of the Creed franchise, not only confirming that a fourth film is “definitely” on the cards but also officially announcing a television spin-off based on his character’s daughter, Amara.

Speaking to variety.com, Jordan, who starred in the original 2015 Creed, returned for Creed II, and directed and starred in 2023’s box-office hit Creed III, shed light on the burgeoning cinematic and television universe.

Despite the lack of official news since the third film’s release two years ago, Jordan affirmed that the main storyline is far from finished.

“Eventually, definitely,” Jordan said regarding plans for Creed IV. “It’s a franchise that’s been really kind to me in a big way. I love MGM and Irwin Winkler and everything they’ve got going on.”

However, fans may have a significant wait. Jordan is currently set to direct and star in The Thomas Crown Affair, slated for a March 2027 release. This means Creed IV would likely not enter production until 2028 at the earliest, five years after its predecessor.

Looking to the franchise’s future, the actor-director hinted at exploring new avenues beyond the ring. “I think there’s a bit more story to be mined through that,” he commented. “Do I want to be in the ring boxing for the next 15 years? Not so much. But I think there are clever ways and interesting characters we’ve established that we might want to see where that goes, along with some introductions to new ones I have in mind.”

The biggest reveal came when Jordan confirmed a previously rumoured spin-off series focusing on Adonis Creed’s daughter, Amara. The project, which has reportedly been picked up by Prime Video, marks the first official confirmation of the show’s greenlight.

“We’re spinning off doing Adonis’s daughter, Amara’s story, the television show that’s picked up at Amazon,” Jordan stated. “So you’ll be seeing different parts of the Creed-verse, I like to call it.”

This expansion signals a new strategy to ensure the longevity of the franchise beyond Jordan’s central boxing role. “These little IPs are going to keep the universe alive without it being completely reliant on just me to push it through the finish line every time as a boxer. I’ll be adjacent,” he explained.

This Amara series follows the confirmation of another spin-off, Delphi, in May 2025, which will focus on the titular gym seen across both the Rocky and Creed films. It remains to be seen whether the Delphi and Amara projects are separate or have been merged into a single concept.

Having successfully stepped out of the shadow of the Rocky series—a transition that saw Sylvester Stallone written out of Creed III—the franchise is proving its strength. With Creed III outgrossing both prior films with a global take of $273 million, the success validates the decision to let new leads take the reins.

The expansion into the “Creed-verse” with Amara and Delphi suggests a confident move towards making the franchise thrive, not just beyond Stallone’s Rocky Balboa, but potentially beyond Michael B. Jordan’s Adonis Creed as well.
