Megan Thee Stallion rushed to hospital after Broadway collapse

Grammy-winning artist Megan Thee Stallion was hospitalised in New York City on Tuesday night after falling ill during a performance of Moulin Rouge! The Musical, per variety.com. The rapper, who recently transitioned to the Broadway stage, was forced to exit the production mid-show to seek emergency medical attention.

A representative for the star confirmed the incident to Variety, stating that Megan began feeling unwell during the evening’s performance at the Al Hirschfeld Theatre. She was promptly transported to a local hospital, where medical professionals are currently evaluating her symptoms. Her team has promised to share additional updates as her condition clarifies.

The “Hiss” rapper made her highly anticipated Broadway debut on March 24, taking on the role of nightclub impresario Harold Zidler. The casting was seen as a bold creative shift for the artist, who had expressed immense pride in joining the production for a planned eight-week engagement. At the time of her casting, Megan noted that theatre required a unique level of discipline and that she was eager for her fans to see a different side of her artistry.

The production is currently scheduled to conclude its seven-year Broadway run on July 26. While the show remains a popular fixture, the financial demands of music rights and elaborate staging have made it a costly endeavour. Producers have not yet commented on how the musical will proceed in the immediate wake of its leading star’s medical emergency.
