Masobe Books acquires Abdulkareem Baba-Aminu’s debut poetry collection

Prominent Nigerian publishing house Masobe Books has officially announced the acquisition of “Kill the Poet, Save the World!,” the debut poetry collection from acclaimed polymath Abdulkareem Baba-Aminu.

Described as a “daring, incandescent plunge into the futures Africa is already dreaming,” the collection marks a significant milestone in Baba-Aminu’s prolific career. The publisher noted on X that the poems are infused with an African futurist vision, navigating themes of circuitry, spirit, memory and mutation to address the complexities of the modern age.

Baba-Aminu is a well-established figure in the global creative industry. His recent work includes writing and illustrating a story for the critically acclaimed anthology The Most Important Comic Book on Earth, published by Penguin UK.

His professional background spans several decades and disciplines including over 20 years of journalism experience, including a 10-year tenure as the editor of the Saturday Daily Trust. A professional cartoonist for over 30 years, earning numerous awards both within Nigeria and internationally, he currently serves as the Chief Operating Officer of Spine & Label, one of Abuja’s most popular bookstores.

His journalistic and creative work has been widely translated, with recent publications appearing in French and Italian.

While “Kill the Poet, Save the World!” represents Baba-Aminu’s first standalone book,

Masobe Books has yet to confirm a specific launch date, saying that a formal release date and the official cover reveal will be announced shortly.
