Martha Stewart joins Snoop Dogg as Swansea City co-owner

Martha Stewart has officially joined the ranks of celebrity investors at Swansea City AFC, per theguardian.com. The American entrepreneur joins a star-studded minority ownership group that already includes rapper Snoop Dogg and football icon Luka Modrić.

The announcement was confirmed by majority owners Brett Cravatt and Jason Cohen via the club’s website. While the specific financial terms of Stewart’s investment remain undisclosed, the move signals a growing trend of US celebrities targeting the potential of British football clubs outside the Premier League.

Stewart’s arrival follows her recent appearance at the Swansea.com Stadium, where she witnessed a dramatic 2-1 victory over Wrexham AFC. Wrexham themselves have become the blueprint for celebrity-led turnarounds under Hollywood owners Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney.

Other notable US athletes have followed suit, including NFL legend Tom Brady, who holds a stake in Birmingham City.

For Swansea, the addition of Stewart is expected to further boost the club’s international profile.

“We have seen increased exposure following the additions of Snoop and Luka,” Cravatt and Cohen noted. “We are excited to welcome Martha onboard; her enthusiasm for the club was clear during Friday’s match.”

Despite the influx of “A-list” backing, fans should not expect a radical overhaul of the squad. The owners confirmed that the upcoming January transfer window will be quiet, with head coach Vítor Matos instead focusing on the development of young talent.

Stewart, often cited as America’s first self-made female billionaire, built a global empire through her retail and media ventures. Her partnership with Swansea reunites her, at least in a business sense, with long-time friend Snoop Dogg, with whom she famously collaborated during the 2024 Paris Olympics.

The club, which has been under American ownership since 2016, is currently exploring the purchase of its council-owned stadium as part of its long-term growth strategy.
