Days have gone by, yet the sad incident still remains fresh in our minds.
The death of the erudite, scholar and creative, Professor Harry Garuba has left a trail of sadness from Nigeria to South Africa.
Described as ‘a masterful writer and poet’, ‘a luminary in the field of African literature and a champion of post colonial theory and postcolonial literature’, by the University of Cape Town, where he taught in the English Department and African Studies Unit until his death, Professor Garuba was an iconic figure.
In honour of his outstanding legacy, Ouida Books, organizers of the Ake festival is hosting an evening in celebration of his life.

A Condolence Register will be open at Ouida House from Friday, 6 March to Saturday, 14 March 2020 in honour of the late Professor Harry Olúdáre Garuba, who passed away on 28th February.
