Lindsay Lohan and Jamie Lee Curtis will return for “Freaky Friday 2” for the film’s 20th anniversary, according to reports.
Disney is set to make the sequel exactly 20 years after the 2003 release of the film that follows Tess (Curtis) and her daughter Anna (Lohan), whose strained relationship is put to the test when they wake up one Friday and find they have swapped bodies.
The film, based on Mary Rodgers’ 1972 novel, grossed $160 million globally and is still beloved by fans.
Jamie Lee teased fans about the sequel during an appearance at the Producers Guild Awards as she said: “It’s going to happen.
“Without saying there’s anything officially happening, I’m looking at you in this moment and saying, ‘Of course it’s going to happen.’
The actor later confirmed the news on Instagram as she shared a picture of her and Lindsay sitting down for an interview to discuss the possibility of a new film.
