Bradford Cohen, longtime attorney for Kodak Black, has voiced his opinion on the disturbing surveillance footage showing Diddy violently attacking ex-girlfriend Cassie Ventura in 2016, per allhiphop.com. The footage, released by CNN on May 17, has sparked outrage online and drawn significant attention to the case.
On May 18, Cohen took to Instagram to share his thoughts, posting a screenshot from the video. He suggested that this leak signals impending legal action against Diddy. “Anyone who thinks CNN ‘obtained’ the video is a sucker,” Cohen wrote. “This was a leak, and to me, it telegraphs the fact he’s about to be charged in a bigger case. This way, if Cassie is the star witness, they can rely on the fact she was essentially under his control. By the way, that is why this case should have been settled way before the lawsuit was filed.”
Cohen further noted that Diddy’s recent lack of international travel might indicate he is avoiding arrest. “One other observation is there is a reason he hasn’t left the country or flown anywhere the past month. My belief is they would arrest in a criminal complaint if he flew anywhere,” he added.
The video, captured at the InterContinental Hotel in Los Angeles, aligns with allegations made by Ventura in her 2023 lawsuit against Diddy. It shows Diddy, wearing only a towel, chasing Ventura, dragging her, and violently assaulting her. Ventura managed to briefly escape to call for help before being cornered and attacked again by Diddy.
Cassie’s attorney, Douglas Wigdor, condemned the footage, stating, “The gut-wrenching video has only further confirmed the disturbing and predatory behaviour of Mr. Combs. Words cannot express the courage and fortitude that Ms. Ventura has shown in coming forward to bring this to light.”
