Lady Gaga’s ‘Mayhem’ tops album chart

Lady Gaga has proven her chart dominance once again as her seventh studio album, Mayhem, explodes onto the Billboard 200 at No. 1, per theprint.in. The dance-heavy collection earned a staggering 219,000 units in its opening week, claiming the title of biggest debut by a female artiste in 2025.

Mayhem continues Gaga’s perfect streak of No. 1 debuts, following her previous chart-toppers Chromatica (2020), A Star Is Born soundtrack with Bradley Cooper (2018), Joanne (2016), Cheek to Cheek with Tony Bennett (2014), Artpop (2013) and Born This Way (2011).

The album’s lead single “Abracadabra,” which Gaga strategically premiered during a commercial break at February’s Grammy Awards, has become the project’s highest-charting hit. The dance-floor anthem joins previously released singles “Disease” and the Bruno Mars collaboration “Die With A Smile” to round out the album’s infectious offerings.

Music industry analysts note that “Mayhem” has achieved the most impressive opening week for any female artist in over six months, cementing Gaga’s staying power in a rapidly evolving music landscape.

Meanwhile, K-pop powerhouse Jennie of Blackpink made her own chart history this week, debuting at No. 7 with her first solo album Ruby. The pop and R&B collection, featuring collaborations with Childish Gambino, Dua Lipa, and others, earned 56,000 units with nearly 40 million streams. “Ruby” joins previous top-10 albums from Blackpink members Rosé and Lisa, further establishing the group’s individual star power.

The remainder of this week’s top chart positions include Kendrick Lamar’s GNX at No. 2, PartyNextDoor and Drake’s collaborative project at No. 3, with SZA, Tate McRae, Sabrina Carpenter, Bad Bunny, Morgan Wallen and Chappell Roan rounding out the top 10.
