Lady Gaga reimagines Mister Rogers classic for Super Bowl ad

Lady Gaga has unveiled a moving cover of the iconic Mister Rogers’ Neighborhood theme, “Won’t You Be My Neighbor?”, set to debut during Super Bowl LX, per pitchfork.com.

The Grammy-winning artist recorded the rendition for a joint campaign by Redfin and Rocket Mortgage. While the full 60-second commercial will premiere during the game on February 8, a behind-the-scenes teaser released this week offers a first look at Gaga’s soulful take on the children’s classic.

Recorded at the legendary Shangri-La Studios in Malibu, the track features Gaga alongside collaborators Alex Smith and Benjamin Rice. In the teaser, the singer reflects on the enduring influence of Fred Rogers, describing him as someone who “stood for something” and noting the song’s particular relevance in the current climate.

“It is powerful to think of what he would say right now,” Gaga remarked, adding that she aimed to create an arrangement that felt “heartfelt, kind and warm.”

Real estate portal Redfin is making its first-ever Super Bowl appearance in its 20-year history with the advertisement. The campaign reportedly focuses on themes of community and the transformative power of being a “good neighbour.”

Super Bowl LX will see the Seattle Seahawks face the New England Patriots at Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara, California. Gaga’s appearance in the commercial breaks follows her own acclaimed halftime performance in 2017; this year, the mid-game spectacle will be headlined by Bad Bunny.
