Lady Gaga & Bruno Mars’ ‘Die With a Smile’ claims Billboard Hot 100 crown

Lady Gaga and Bruno Mars’ collaboration “Die With a Smile” has in a remarkable ascent spanning 20 weeks finally reached the summit of the Billboard Hot 100, per variety.com. The track, which initially debuted at No. 3 in August and previously peaked at No. 2 in November, secured its position with impressive metrics of 59.7 million radio airplay audience impressions and 27 million official streams.

The song’s journey to the top spot marks one of the longer climbs in recent chart history, though falling short of Teddy Swims’ “Lose Control,” which took 32 weeks to reach No. 1 last March. Currently, Swims’ hit maintains a strong presence at No. 4.

Meanwhile, the album charts have witnessed significant movement as holiday releases exit the top positions. SZA’s SOS has reclaimed the throne on the Billboard 200 for a second consecutive week in 2024, boosted by its deluxe reissue SOS Deluxe: Lana. The expanded album, featuring 15 additional tracks, garnered 130,000 album units and an impressive 166 million streams across its 38-song tracklist.

This achievement extends SZA’s record-breaking run, as SOS now holds the distinction for most weeks at No. 1 for an R&B/hip-hop album by a female artist since Whitney Houston’s 1986 self-titled album, which dominated for 14 weeks. The success of SOS comes nearly two years after its initial release, during which it previously enjoyed a 10-week reign at the top of the charts in 2022 and early 2023.
