Lagos-based singer and songwriter Kotrell has released his debut album, And Everything In Between, a 15-track project that maps the emotional landscape of a relationship from its very first spark to its hard-won resolution. Released today via ONErpm, the album arrives as the culmination of a creative arc that began with his 2023 EP Love Is… and deepened with 2024’s Forever, completing what now reads as an intentional trilogy on the subject of modern love.
The album unfolds with the structure of a classic romance, following two young lovers from the excitement of a first encounter through moments of doubt, rupture, and recovery, before arriving at the steadiness of chosen, enduring commitment. Kotrell draws on everyday experience, inherited love stories, and the tradition of the timeless love song, keeping his writing deliberate and unadorned so that emotion, rather than ornamentation, does the heavier work.
Sonically, And Everything In Between blends soft Afropop, contemporary R&B, and gentle pop influences, with the sequencing itself acting as a guide through the album’s emotional terrain. Tracks such as “Talk To Me,” “Deserve It,” and “Love Me Slow” carry tenderness and reassurance in equal measure, while collaborations lend further texture and depth: “Easy For You” features Amaeya, and “When You Know” enlists Dwin The Stoic for a meditation on certainty in love. Songs including “Whole World,” “Like Magic,” and “I Love You” sit in the warmth of affirmation, whilst “Heavy” and “Safe” occupy more exposed, vulnerable terrain. The closing track, “I Choose You,” brings the journey full circle. Production credits are shared across Deeyasso, ShabbaProducer, Nuel Beatz, Wildxyouths, Zyrx, and Kotrell himself — a close-knit creative team whose cohesion ensures the album’s intimacy of sound remains consistent throughout.
