Kevin Spacey, the two-time Oscar winner, says he is currently homeless and is struggling financially, living in hotels and Airbnbs in the wake of sexual misconduct allegations that halted his career, per ew.com.
“I’m living in hotels, I’m living in Airbnbs,” the actor told the UK’s The Telegraph in an interview published Wednesday. “I’m going where the work is. I literally have no home, that’s what I’m attempting to explain.”
Spacey, who always denied the allegations, said his financial situation is “not great.” His home in Baltimore was reportedly auctioned off.
“The costs over these last seven years have been astronomical,” the former House of Cards star said. “I’ve had very little coming in and everything going out.”
Since 2017, the actor has been accused of sexual misconduct by more than a dozen men. Spacey has successfully defended himself in two key court battles. In a 2023 case in London, he was found not guilty of charges that he sexually assaulted four men between 2001 and 2013. In a 2022 civil lawsuit brought by actor Anthony Rapp, Spacey was found not liable for an alleged molestation incident from 1986.
Amid his legal problems, Spacey has worked on several smaller productions from first-time filmmakers and performed a variety show in Cyprus.
The actor remains optimistic about his future, believing that a major industry figure holds the key to his professional comeback.
“We are in touch with some extremely powerful people who want to put me back to work,” Spacey claimed. “But I will also say what I think the industry seems to be waiting for is to be given permission — by someone who is in some position of enormous respect and authority.”
He added that a call from certain celebrated directors would end his professional isolation: “My feeling is if Martin Scorsese or Quentin Tarantino call Evan [his manager] tomorrow, it will be over. I will be incredibly honored and delighted when that level of talent picks up the phone.”
