Kate Hudson has revealed the heartwarming way she celebrated her second Academy Award nomination: a quiet morning of coffee and conversation with her famous family, per ew.com.
The actress, nominated for Best Actress for her role as Claire ‘Thunder’ Sardina in Song Sung Blue, woke to the news in the early hours alongside her seven-year-old daughter, Rani Rose. “I got to celebrate with my baby girl and it was just wonderful,” Hudson told reporters, noting that her daughter was slightly bewildered by the pre-dawn television marathon.

The celebration soon grew as the wider Hawn-Russell clan descended on her home. Hudson’s mother, Goldie Hawn, and longtime partner Kurt Russell were among the guests who gathered to “unpack the year” over caffeine.
“My family came over for coffee, and we just sat and talked about how lucky we all are to be in this business,” Hudson said. She also joked about the “crazy” family group chat, which was reportedly flooded with emojis following the announcement.
Directed by Craig Brewer, Song Sung Blue features Hudson and Hugh Jackman as a husband-and-wife Neil Diamond tribute act. This recognition comes exactly 25 years after Hudson’s first nomination for Almost Famous (2000), a milestone she says feels “very different” this time around.
“My career started at 20 and I never stopped working,” Hudson reflected. “Now, you sit in it. You appreciate it. It’s like having your third child—you soak all of it in more.”
Hudson faces stiff competition in a powerhouse category including Emma Stone (Bugonia) and Jessie Buckley (Hamnet). Despite the stakes, she insists the atmosphere among the nominees is one of mutual support, noting they have already been “giving each other flowers” via text.
“It’s an exciting time for everybody,” she added. “I feel like a huge ball of gratitude.”
