The highly anticipated studio cast recording of ‘Jo – The Little Women Musical’ has officially launched worldwide, promising theatre lovers a fresh, sweeping and emotionally charged adaptation of Louisa May Alcott’s beloved novel. According to theatre-news.com, the album, released by Little Women Enterprises LLC and Centre Stage Records, is set to redefine the classic tale for a new generation.
With a captivating score by Dan Redfeld and insightful book and lyrics by Christina Harding and John Gabriel Koladziej, Jo delves into the March sisters’ journey with a contemporary sensibility, daring audiences to embrace their own stories. The musical, recorded at London’s legendary Abbey Road Studios, boasts a lush 29-piece orchestra and an astonishing array of talent from both Broadway and the West End.
The production shines with a truly star-studded cast. Tony Award winner Laura Benanti leads as Marmee March, alongside two-time Tony Award winner Christine Ebersole as Aunt March. Olivier-nominated West End and Broadway favourite Julian Ovenden embodies Father, while Grammy-nominated Christine Allado takes on the pivotal role of Jo March. West End star Kelly Mathieson is Meg March, with celebrated performers like Bob Gunton, Sophie Pollono, Eleanor Grant, Rob Houchen, Chris Mann, Liam Tamne, Tobias Turley and Miyuki Miyagi completing the impressive ensemble.
Co-produced by five-time Grammy nominee and three-time Emmy winner Nigel Wright and composer Dan Redfeld, the album is hailed as “glorious” by Wright and a “magical listening experience” by Redfeld, who notes it’s “literally the complete show.”
