Soul icon Jill Scott has returned to the top of the charts with her latest single, “Pressha,” which ascended from number three to number one at R&B radio this week, per ratedrnb.com.
According to data from MediaBase, the track garnered 2,160 spins between February 22 and 28, unseating Kehlani’s “Folded” from the top spot. The single has enjoyed a rapid climb since its mid-January debut, breaking into the top 10 within weeks. Meanwhile, on Billboard’s Adult R&B Airplay chart, the song currently sits at number two, trailing just behind Kehlani.

To celebrate the achievement, Scott released a striking music video for the track earlier this week. The visual, described as a “visual poem”, features cameos from Tyler Lepley, Tasha Smith, and Niecy Nash-Betts. It explores the emotional weight of being privately desired yet publicly unacknowledged.
Speaking to The Guardian, Scott explained the deeper meaning behind the song:
“‘Pressha’ is about the pressure to look, sing or act a certain way. It’s partly from my own life experience, but also from noticing that people are choosing an aesthetic over character… when the things that really matter are underneath the skin.”
The single is a standout track from Scott’s sixth studio album, To Whom This May Concern, which was released on February 13. The album debuted at number four on the Billboard Top R&B Albums chart and features an eclectic mix of collaborators, including Ab-Soul, Tierra Whack, and Trombone Shorty.
