Jessie J releases 1st album in 7 years

Jessie J was overcome with emotion upon the release of her long-awaited new album, Don’t Tease Me with a Good Time, confessing she cried “happy ugly proud tears” after finally finishing the project, per music-news.com.

The “Price Tag” hitmaker, 37, shared her feelings of pride with her Instagram followers on Friday, marking the culmination of a challenging and protracted creative process.

“I started writing this album 6 years ago AND IT’S OUT NOWWWWWWWW!!! DON’T TEASE ME WITH A GOOD TIME!!!” she wrote alongside a video montage documenting the album’s creation.

“What I went and have been through to get to this point, to this moment only I will truly ever know. But that’s what I am celebrating in this moment. I didn’t quit. Man was I close in moments but I didn’t!!! I did it!!! We did it!!! Thank you to everyone who supported making this happen…. I’m sobbing posting this. Like happy ugly proud tears.”

The singer, whose last album was This Christmas Day in 2018, explained the timeline on The Graham Norton Show on Friday, noting she began work on the record in 2019, but “then Covid hit and then lots of stuff happened.”

Jessie has faced significant personal hurdles in recent years, including health setbacks and the birth of her son Sky in May 2023. Most recently, she underwent a mastectomy in June after receiving an early-stage breast cancer diagnosis, with a future operation still required.

When asked about her health on the show, the ‘Domino’ singer confirmed she was recovering well. “This year has been wild. I am good. I have just recovered from breast cancer, so I am just happy to be here. I love being back.”

Jessie also treated viewers to a live performance of her recent single ‘H.A.P.P.Y.’ during the Friday night broadcast.
