Angelique Kidjo was announced winner for her album Celia at the 62nd Grammy Awards held on Sunday in Los Angeles, US.
She beat off competition from a crowded field that included Afro-fusion singer, Burna Boy, Altin Gun, Gece; Bokante & Metropole Orkest conducted by Jules Buckley, What Heat; and Nathalie Joachim with Spektral Quartet, Fanm D’Ayiti.
The announcement was made by host Alicia Keys joined by Boyz II Men.
With his 2020 nomination, Burna Boy joins the likes of Seun Kuti, Femi Kuti and King Sunny Ade in getting listed in that category at the Grammy Awards.
