Hayley Williams releases new album “Ego Death at a Bachelorette Party” & pensive track “Parachute”

Hayley Williams has officially released her new solo album, Ego Death at a Bachelorette Party, marking her first major release as an independent artiste, per nme.com. The album, which includes an additional track, “Parachute,” arrives a month after she surprise-released 17 songs for a limited time on her website.

The new single, “Parachute,” debuted on BBC Radio 1 and showcases Williams’s lyrical depth. Starting as a somber, piano-led ballad, the song evolves into a powerful rock anthem. Its lyrics, “I thought you were gonna catch me/I never stopped falling for you/Now I know better, never let me/Leave home without a parachute,” have been widely interpreted by fans as allusions to her rumoured relationship with and split from Paramore guitarist Taylor York. While neither artiste has addressed the speculation, these pensive lyrics have fuelled fan fears of a potential Paramore breakup.

The new album follows a unique rollout strategy. After the initial surprise release, fans took to social media to create their own tracklists, a process Williams said inspired the final album’s order. Physical versions of Ego Death at a Bachelorette Party will be available on November 7 in multiple vinyl colorways. This is Williams’s third solo project, following her previous albums and a collaborative song with David Byrne for the new adaptation of The Twits.
