Jason Isaacs has said that he will not criticise JK Rowling over her views on transgender issues as he describes it as “a minefield'”, DailyStar reports.
According to the report, the 56-year-old author and creator of the Wizarding World seen in Harry Potter, JK Rowling, has faced severe backlash for quite some time due to her controversial opinions on trans issues.
Jason, who played Lucius Malfoy in the Harry Potter saga, said that JK Rowling has “poured an enormous amount of her fortune into making the world a much better place”.
He describes her charity work as “unequivocally good”, as he had previously worked with her organisation Lumos himself, so he would not “jump to stab her in the back”.
The author continues to face major criticism after saying last year that biological women were being put at risk in favour of trans rights.
In an interview with The Telegraph, Jason said: “She has her opinions, I have mine. They differ in many different areas.
“But one of the things that people should know about her too – not as a counter-argument – is that she has poured an enormous amount of her fortune into making the world a much better place, for hundreds of thousands of vulnerable children, through her charity Lumos.”
He added that he finds some controversies are blown out of proportion.
