Despite a critical drubbing and a staggering $200 million price tag, Guy Ritchie’s action-adventure Fountain of Youth has found a second life, per collider.com. The film, which was unceremoniously “dumped” onto Apple TV+ last May, continues to defy its poor reviews by maintaining a steady presence in the platform’s Top 10.
Starring John Krasinski and Natalie Portman as estranged siblings hunting for a mythical treasure, the film was pitched as a modern-day Indiana Jones. However, it failed to charm the critics, languishing with a mediocre 35% score on Rotten Tomatoes. While initial whispers of a sequel have cooled, the film’s “sleeper hit” status suggests Ritchie’s signature high-octane style still resonates with home audiences, particularly those awaiting his upcoming Young Sherlock series.

Fans of the director won’t have to wait long for more grit and glamour. Ritchie’s next cinematic outing, In the Grey, is scheduled for release on April 10.
The heist thriller boasts a heavy-hitting cast, reuniting Ritchie with Henry Cavill and Jake Gyllenhaal. The plot follows an elite covert team attempting to recover a stolen billion-dollar fortune from a ruthless despot, a mission described by the studio as a “strategic war of survival.”
Beyond the big screen, Ritchie’s television empire continues to expand. Season 2 of the Netflix hit “The Gentlemen” is confirmed to premiere before the end of 2026, just as the Prime Video drama “Young Sherlock” starring Hero Fiennes Tiffin is currently one of the most anticipated streaming events of the year.
While Fountain of Youth may have been a “misfire” by traditional standards, its endurance on the charts proves that for Ritchie, the audience often has the final word.
