“God in the Mirror”: Amadin Ihegie’s bold call to redefine spiritual identity

Gospel artist and pastor Amadin Ihegie has released a striking new single that challenges listeners to confront their true selves through a faith lens. “God in the Mirror,” a fusion of spoken word and melody, explores the tension between worldly limitation and divine potential.

The Lagos-based creative–who helms the Teens Church at The L.O.G.I.C Church and runs Truth World Media alongside AI Studios Africa–opens the track with a provocative declaration: “The mirror is the word, and the word is my reflection.” What follows is a deliberate contrast between external struggle and internal truth. Weakness becomes strength. Chains dissolve into freedom. The sheep transforms into a lion.

The track centers on a fundamental question: “Who do you see when you look at yourself?”. Ihegie utilises sharp, intentional contrasts to illustrate the difference between worldly struggles and spiritual identity. While he may feel weak or “low” in the physical world, he identifies as strong and elevated within the “mirror” of faith.

The lyrics describe a transition from being “in chains” to being “free,” and from walking to “flying”.

He juxtaposes the image of a sheep with that of a lion, suggesting that true identity is shaped by belief rather than external circumstances.

The single concludes with a spoken word outro grounded in Biblical text. Ihegie emphasises the scriptural principle that what an individual “constantly beholds” is who they eventually become, urging listeners to fix their eyes on their identity in Christ.

Ihegie anchors the outro in scripture, reminding audiences that sustained contemplation shapes eventual becoming. The message is direct: identity is not circumstance but conviction.

“God in the Mirror” is now streaming on all major platforms via ONErpm.
