Frank Edwards drops “Obuka,” a hymn of gratitude & divine dependence

Frank Edwards has released his new worship song, “Obuka”. The track by the Nigerian gospel music icon known for his distinctive high-pitched vocals and as the founder of Rocktown Records is described as an intimate and expansive hymn of gratitude and divine dependence.

“Obuka,” which is an Igbo phrase meaning “He is Great,” showcases Edwards’ tender vocals over gentle instrumentation and warm harmonies. The song unfolds like a quiet conversation with the divine, offering listeners a moment of calm and spiritual grounding.

The lyrics express a deep reliance on God, using everyday imagery like sunshine, breath and morning light. Edwards sings with awe, calling God “the stream that brings me joy,” “the source that never runs dry,” and “my anchor”. The release adds to Edwards’ years-long legacy of shaping Nigerian gospel music.

“Obuka” is now available to stream.
