‘Firestarter: The Musical’ set to ignite Lagos stage in April

A transformative theatrical experience is set to blaze onto the scene as “Firestarter: The Musical” premieres at Terra Kulture Arena on Sunday, April 13. This third edition of the ELEVATE Poetry Experience promises an electrifying fusion of original music, breathtaking dance and evocative poetry, adapted from the works of poet Shola Amaraibi.

Directed by Kenneth Uphopho and featuring music direction by Ayo Alade, “Firestarter: The Musical” tells the story of Amina, a woman who has spent her life building worlds for others—perfect boss, best wife, supermum—only to lose herself in the process. As the weight of societal expectations threatens to consume her, Amina must rediscover her inner fire before she fades into the ashes.

Audiences can expect an electrifying blend of original musical compositions, breathtaking dance and acrobatic performances, dramatic re-enactments, and transformative poetry. Innovative technology will further enhance this immersive experience, making it a must-see event during the 2025 Easter season.

The show will feature two exclusive performances: a matinee at 3pm and an evening show at 6pm. Tickets are available at varying price points, including student, standard, VIP tickets, and a legacy table available now at https://bit.ly/Firestarter_TheMusical. This family-friendly event, coinciding with the Easter season, welcomes all ticket categories, though refunds are not offered, and attendees must arrive 30 minutes early for a pre-show experience.

Produced by Pawstudios Africa, a Lagos-based creative incubator, “Firestarter” reflects a commitment to nurturing African storytelling. “This is more than a musical—it’s a movement to inspire a generation,” said a statement.
