Finalists announced for prestigious 2024 James Currey Prize

The James Currey Prize has revealed its shortlist for 2024. The announcement, made on July 30, showcases five promising manuscripts selected from a competitive pool of entries.

In a statement, Uzor Maxim Uzoatu, head of the jury, released the names of the finalists and their works as follows:

-Dennis Odhiambo – “The Perpetual Surprise”

– Adikaibe Chidera – “Alligator Blood”

-Chikezie Onwumere – “Miss Too-Good”

-John Otogbo – “Ogbogbo”

-John Ebute – “Fury”

The James Currey Prize, known for recognising emerging African literary talent, has been a launching pad for many successful authors in recent years. This year’s shortlist represents a diverse range of voices and narratives from across the continent.
