FilmOne Entertainment has reaffirmed the integrity and credibility of its recently published Nigeria Box Office Rankings 2024.
In a recent statement, the leading Nigerian film production and distribution company said that since inception in 2020, the Nigerian Box Office Yearbook has been a cornerstone resource for the industry, offering transparent, data-driven insights that filmmakers, investors and stakeholders depend on.
Collaborating with data partners Comscore and the Cinema Exhibitors Association of Nigeria (CEAN), FilmOne said it has developed a robust, structured process to evaluate box office performance, screen time and the impact of talent contributions in films. The rankings, it added, are meticulously validated by executive producers and finalised using standardised industry metrics.
The statement is in response to recent inquiries about the selection criteria.
FilmOne clarified that performers must appear in films grossing at least N20 million during the eligibility period (January 1st to December 31st, 2024). Lead performers must be designated as such in their films, while two male and female supporting performers are selected per category, with validation from the film’s producers and executive producers.
The statement reads in part: Addressing the recent inquiries around the selection criteria relating to the performance ranking; FilmOne provides the following clarifications:
- To qualify as a performer in any of these categories, the performers must have appeared in one or more films released in cinemas that grossed at least 20 million Naira within the eligibility period (January 1st to December 31st of the relevant year).
- To qualify as a lead performer, an individual must be the designated lead in the films in question.
- Two male/female supporting performers are selected in each category, with validation from the producers and executive producers of the film.
