Filmone Limited has announced the appointment of Ladun Awobokun as its new chief content officer. According to a statement, this strategic decision marks a significant milestone in Filmone’s journey to dominate the African entertainment landscape.
Awobokun, who previously served as general manager, has been instrumental in Filmone’s meteoric rise. Her tenure saw the company secure exclusive distribution rights for major Hollywood studios like Sony Pictures and Walt Disney in Anglophone West Africa, catapulting Filmone to the top of the market share rankings in the region.
Under Awobokun’s guidance, Filmone has become synonymous with box office success, distributing an impressive 90% of Nollywood’s top-grossing films. Her track record includes the distribution of A Tribe Called Judah, which made history as the first Nollywood production to break the N1 billion barrier at the box office. Other notable successes under her belt include Wakanda Forever, Ajosepo and King of Thieves.
In her new role, Awobokun will be at the helm of Filmone’s creative direction and content strategy. Her mandate includes leveraging her passion for storytelling and media production to develop high-quality, engaging content that resonates with both local and global audiences. Industry insiders predict that her vision and leadership will be crucial in elevating Nollywood’s standing on the international stage.
CEO of Filmone Group, Kene Okwuosa, expressed his enthusiasm for the appointment, stating, “Ladun’s promotion to chief content officer marks a pivotal moment in our strategic vision. Her expertise and forward-thinking leadership are set to propel our content innovation to new heights, reinforcing our role as an industry trailblazer.”

Together, we will push the boundaries of storytelling and create content that not only entertains but also inspires and connects with audiences around the world.”
