“Fantastic Four” soars to top of box office with $118m debut

Pedro Pascal’s highly anticipated superhero epic, The Fantastic Four: First Steps, has conquered the North American box office this weekend, raking in an impressive $118 million in its debut, per upi.com. The film’s strong performance positions it as a major summer blockbuster, signaling a triumphant return for Marvel’s iconic superhero team.

The film, which sees Pascal taking on a leading role, dominated the charts, leaving competitors far behind. Coming in at a distant second was Superman, which managed to pull in $24.9 million. Jurassic World: Rebirth secured the third spot with $13 million, followed by the high-octane F1: The Movie at No. 4 with $6.2 million. The animated Smurfs rounded out the top five, earning $5.4 million.

The remaining films in the top ten included a mix of genres. I Know What You Did Last Summer and How to Train Your Dragon tied for sixth place, both pulling in $2.8 million. Eddington landed at No. 8 with $1.7 million, while Oh, Hi! and The Home completed the top ten with $1.1 million and $1 million respectively.

The Fantastic Four: First Steps had generated considerable buzz leading up to its release, and its opening weekend figures indicate that audiences were eager to witness the new iteration of the beloved characters on the big screen. The film’s success is a significant win for the studio and a promising start for what is expected to be a major franchise.
