Drake’s much-anticipated closing set at London’s Wireless Festival ended abruptly after just 40 minutes on Sunday night, frustrating thousands of fans who expected more from the final show of his three-day residency, according to the BBC.
Taking the stage 10 minutes early, the rapper addressed the crowd with a cryptic promise: “I’ll perform until they cut my mic,” referencing the strict 9:30pm curfew. Despite earlier announcements of two separate sets—at 6:25pm and 8:55pm—only one performance materialised, beginning shortly after Burna Boy’s set.
Unlike Friday and Saturday’s 90-minute shows filled with surprise guests—13 and six respectively—Sunday’s set saw just three appearances: Popcaan, Rema, and Vybz Kartel. Drake opened with an unreleased track featuring Central Cee, who watched from the front row rather than joining him on stage.
Throughout the show, Drake seemed noticeably agitated, a contrast to his upbeat demeanor from earlier performances. Though he raced through a medley of hits including “Controlla,” “Find Your Love” and “One Dance”—all remixed for 2025—the renditions felt rushed and difficult for fans to sing along to.
Rema’s energetic cameo with “Calm Down” and “Fever” briefly lifted spirits, but the performance quickly wrapped up after a short Vybz Kartel appearance and two more solo tracks from Drake. As with the previous nights, he closed by ascending a crane above the 50,000-strong crowd to the tune of Whitney Houston’s “I Will Always Love You”—a dramatic finale that now signaled the show’s premature end.
Some fans expressed dismay at spending more time queuing than actually watching Drake perform. At the accessible exit, scenes turned chaotic as security briefly detained attendees, prompting visible distress among those needing assistance. Fans were heard shouting and shaking barriers, demanding to be let out.
The festival’s organisers have yet to comment on the early finish or the accessibility concerns.
