Emilia Clarke to narrate ‘The Instrumentalist’ for Audiobook release

Emilia Clarke, best known for her role in HBO’s Game of Thrones, is set to narrate the audiobook version of Harriet Constable’s debut novel, The Instrumentalist, per thebookseller.com. Bloomsbury Publishing announced that the Emmy-nominated actress will lend her voice to the UK edition, slated for release on August 15th, 2024.

The novel, which Bloomsbury acquired in a competitive seven-way auction last year, draws inspiration from the life of Anna Maria della Pietà, a musical prodigy who studied under the renowned composer Antonio Vivaldi. Senior editor Tom Skipp praised Clarke’s performance, noting her ability to bring the protagonist and her musical world to life with sensitivity and compelling depth.

Author Harriet Constable expressed her excitement about Clarke’s involvement, calling it “the most enormous privilege” and a beautiful tribute to the remarkable women whose stories inspired the novel. The audiobook is expected to offer listeners a vivid journey into 18th-century Venice, showcasing Clarke’s versatility as a performer.

This project adds to Clarke’s diverse portfolio, which recently included roles in the sci-fi film The Pod Generation and Marvel’s Secret Invasion series, as well as a stage performance in The Seagull in London’s West End. The collaboration between Clarke and Bloomsbury promises to be a captivating audio experience for literature and history enthusiasts alike.
