Two of Britain’s fastest-rising talents, David Jonsson and Aimee Lou Wood, are set to reveal the nominations for the 2026 BAFTA Film Awards, per variety.com.
The announcement will take place at 12:00 GMT on January 27 at the British Academy’s headquarters in Piccadilly, London. Fans can follow the reveal via a global livestream on BAFTA’s YouTube and X channels.

Leading the pack following the first round of voting is Paul Thomas Anderson’s “One Battle After Another”. The biting US satire has secured a record-breaking 16 longlist nods. Other major contenders include Hamnet (14 longlist slots), Sinners (14 longlist slots), Marty Supreme (13 longlist slots), Bugonia and Frankenstein (12 longlist slots each).
Both hosts have strong ties to the Academy. Aimee Lou Wood, known for Sex Education and her recent turn in The White Lotus, is a former BAFTA TV Award winner and Rising Star nominee. She is currently filming Sam Mendes’ highly anticipated Beatles biopic.
David Jonsson is the reigning BAFTA Rising Star, having won in 2025 following standout performances in Alien: Romulus and Rye Lane. His recent project, Wasteman, is currently longlisted for Outstanding Debut by a British Writer, Director or Producer.
While the main nominations remain under wraps, the Rising Star shortlist has already been confirmed, featuring Chase Infiniti, Miles Caton, Archie Madekwe, Robert Aramayo and Posy Sterling.
The second round of voting concludes on January 20. The season will culminate in the BAFTA Film Awards ceremony on February 22 at London’s Royal Festival Hall.
