Chris Hemsworth is swapping Mjölnir for a life of crime in the first trailer for “Crime 101,” a gritty heist thriller that is already positioning itself as a heavyweight contender for the best crime film of the year movieweb.com reports.
The Amazon MGM Studios production features a powerhouse ensemble, reuniting MCU veterans Hemsworth and Mark Ruffalo, alongside Halle Berry and Barry Keoghan. The cast is bolstered by strong supporting turns from Monica Barbaro, Corey Hawkins, Jennifer Jason Leigh, and Nick Nolte.

Directed by Bart Layton (American Animals), the film is an adaptation of Don Winslow’s acclaimed novella. It follows an elusive thief (Hemsworth) whose high-stakes robberies along the iconic 101 freeway have left the Los Angeles police baffled. As he prepares for one final “score of a lifetime,” he crosses paths with a disillusioned insurance broker (Berry). Meanwhile, a relentless detective (Ruffalo) begins to close in, blurring the lines between the hunter and the hunted.
While Hemsworth and Ruffalo are old colleagues, Crime 101 marks the first time Hemsworth and Berry have shared the screen. Speaking at CinemaCon, Berry praised Hemsworth’s character both on and off-camera.
“He’s a stand-up guy,” Berry noted. “He stood up for me during a moment in filming, and I knew then I’d be a fan of his for the rest of my life. He didn’t have to do it, but he did.”
Despite his veteran status in Hollywood, Hemsworth admitted to feeling “intimidated” by the Oscar-winning actress. “I’ve admired Halle’s work for many years,” he said. “I was in awe of what she was doing, but she creates a comfort level that allows you to explore different ideas. I loved every second of it.”
Crime 101 is scheduled for a theatrical release on 13 February 2026.
