Chris Evans is set to play Gene Kelly in an upcoming film, based on an original idea from the Captain America star, Metro reports.
The 40-year-old is set to reunite with Knives Out director Rian Johnson, and can we just appreciate that absolute dream team?
Citing a Deadline report, the platform says the film will follow a 12-year-old boy who works on the MGM Lot in 1952 and begins to create an imagined friendship with iconic movie star Kelly.
According to Metro, a studio is not yet attached, but Mark Kassen is reportedly on board to produce, while John Logan will pen the script.
Actor, director, and choreographer Kelly was best known for iconic films including Singin’ In The Rain, Brigadoon, and For Me and My Gal, and is credited with transforming the Hollywood musical.
He died in 1996 at the age of 83, after suffering a number of strokes.
