Chappell Roan stuns in daring medieval gown at the 2026 Grammys

Chappell Roan turned heads on the 68th Annual Grammy Awards red carpet on Sunday, delivering a bold reimagining of the “naked dress” trend, per ew.com.

The Best New Artist alumna made a theatrical entrance in a sheer maroon Mugler gown, uniquely draped from faux nipple rings. To complement the avant-garde ensemble, Roan’s back was decorated with intricate temporary tattoos, a stylistic nod to her medieval-themed Visions of Damsels & Other Dangerous Things tour.

Speaking to Marie Claire, the singer’s makeup artist, Andrew Dahling, explained the vision behind the look.

“We started with this very archival, full, bare moment,” Dahling noted. “Once the tattoos came into play, everything became very medieval, but in a real way. It’s still fantasy and something otherworldly, but grounded.”

Roan entered the evening as a formidable contender, following her previous breakthrough success. This year, her hit single “The Subway” earned prestigious nominations for both Record of the Year and Best Pop Solo Performance.

The star’s appearance follows a night of high-stakes performances and historic wins, including a record-breaking evening for Latin music and a surprise reunion of The Fugees.
