Chad McQueen, ‘Karate Kid’ actor, dies at 63

Chad McQueen, son of Hollywood legend Steve McQueen and a notable actor in his own right, passed away on Wednesday, September 11, 2024, at his home in Palm Desert, California, per parade.com. He was 63 years old.

McQueen, best known for his role as Dutch in the iconic 1984 film The Karate Kid and its sequel, died of organ failure following a recent injury, according to his attorney, Arthur Barens. The actor was surrounded by his wife, Jeanie Galbraith, and their children at the time of his passing.

Born Chadwick Steven McQueen on December 28, 1960, he was the youngest of two children born to Steve McQueen and Neile Adams. Following in his father’s footsteps, Chad pursued both acting and racing, passions that defined his career and personal life.

In a heartfelt Instagram post, McQueen’s family remembered him as “a loving father” whose “commitment to our mother truly exemplified a life filled with love and dedication.” They highlighted his racing career as a way he honored his father’s legacy, a passion he also passed down to his children.

Beyond his role in The Karate Kid franchise, McQueen leaves behind a legacy in both Hollywood and the racing world. He is survived by his wife, Jeanie Galbraith, their children Chase and Madison, and his son from a previous marriage, Vampire Diaries actor Steven R. McQueen.
