Cat Burns is set to release her highly anticipated sophomore album, “How to be Human,” on Friday, October 31, per music-news.com. The new body of work follows the multi-BRIT and Mercury Prize-nominated artiste’s critically acclaimed debut, early twenties, and promises to be her most personal and introspective project to date.
Spanning 16 tracks, the album features recent singles “All This Love” and “GIRLS!” and explores themes of vulnerability, growth, and love. Entirely written by Burns, each song blends deeply personal reflections with voice notes to create an intimate and authentic listening experience. Demonstrating her full artistic vision, Burns also directed the album’s visual concept, which was photographed by Sebastian Xavier.
Burns revealed that the album was born out of a period of immense struggle. “I experienced the death of a loved one and my first relationship heartbreak at the same time and genuinely had no idea how I would get through the situation,” she explained. She hopes How to be Human will serve as a “comfort album” for listeners, offering a guide on how to “pick yourself back up” from similar challenges.
To support the release, Burns will embark on a seven-date UK headline tour this November, performing songs from the new project alongside fan favorites. The album and tour announcement comes just before her upcoming performance at this weekend’s All Points East festival, where she will join an all-female lineup that includes Raye, JADE and Tyla.
