Cassandra Jenkins has announced “My Light, My Massage Parlor,” an instrumental companion to her critically acclaimed 2024 album, My Light, My Destroyer, per pitchfork.com. The new album is set for a digital release on August 14 via Dead Oceans, with physical editions to follow on September 5.
Leading the release is “Delphinium Bliss,” a reinterpretation of her previous track “Delphinium Blue,” accompanied by a new video. My Light, My Massage Parlor is a collaborative effort with pianist Michael Coleman and features a rich sonic tapestry including woodwinds, horns, strings, wind chimes, and even cricket sounds.
This marks Jenkins’ second companion album, following (An Overview On) An Overview on Phenomenal Nature, which accompanied her 2021 release, An Overview on Phenomenal Nature. The tracklist for the new album includes titles such as “Still Rambling,” “Only Relaxation” and “Omakase of Time.”
