Legendary guitarist Carlos Santana has announced his highly anticipated retrospective album, “Sentient,” set to drop on March 28, per americansongwriter.com. The 11-track collection features remastered collaborations with iconic artistes like Smokey Robinson, Miles Davis and the late Michael Jackson, alongside three previously unreleased recordings.
The album’s lead single, an alternate version of “Please Don’t Take Your Love” with Smokey Robinson, showcases Santana’s signature guitar solos and soulful artistry. “I’m always driven by passion, emotion, and inner instinct,” Santana shared in a statement. “When I first heard these tracks floating around, I said, ‘Why don’t we put these all in one place?’”
“Sentient” also includes a live instrumental rendition of Michael Jackson’s “Stranger in Moscow,” recorded in 2007, and a reimagined version of “Get On,” featuring Miles Davis.
The album promises to weave a dramatic narrative through its carefully curated tracklist, blending Santana’s timeless guitar work with the voices of music legends.
This announcement comes as Santana recovers from a broken finger that forced him to postpone his Las Vegas residency shows earlier this year. Fans can look forward to his rescheduled performances and a 2025 US and European tour kicking off in April.
Pre-orders for “Sentient” are now available, with a trailer on Santana’s official YouTube channel offering a sneak peek into this musical journey. As Santana continues to heal, his passion for music remains undimmed, proving once again why he’s a Rock & Roll Hall of Famer.
