Warner Music Australia has signed Carla Wehbe, a rising singer, songwriter and producer with a knack for weaving pop melodies and ‘80s nostalgia.
To celebrate the new deal, set to be announced Tuesday, November 9, Wehbe drops her new release “Hurts To Love You”, a slapping electro-pop number which enjoyed its premiere on the triple j youth network, Billboard reports.
According to the report, Wehbe has been making all the right noises since the 2020 release of her debut EP Half Past Nine, the songs from which made it to high rotation on triple j.
Her first official release was 2019’s “Touched,” a collaboration with Tyron Hapi (“Astronaut in the Ocean”) and Roy Bing, which has racked-in more than 6 million streams.
In recent months, she’s worked with chart-topping Melbourne rapper Illy on “No Feelings” and contributed writing to Vera Blue’s current single “Temper”.
Born and raised in Sydney, Wehbe’s artistic talents aren’t confined to music. She’s also an experienced videographer and photographer, she was cast as a model for a Double Rainbouu campaign and for Lime Cordiale’s collaboration with Wrangler, and has her own clothing line coming on line in 2022.
At WMA, Wehbe joins a domestic roster that includes Jessica Mauboy, Ben Lee, Budjerah, Client Liaison, BOY SODA, Shihad, Eskimo Joe, Masked Wolf, Motor Ace, Carla Wehbe, Gyroscope and Lara Andallo,
Wehbe was signed by Warner Music Australasia president Dan Rosen and senior VP A&R Paul Harris.
