Cardi B has been found not liable in a $24 million civil assault and battery lawsuit, securing a major legal victory, per pagesix.com. On Tuesday, a Los Angeles jury unanimously decided against awarding any damages to Emani Ellis, a former security guard who accused the rapper of spitting on her and using racial slurs during an alleged 2018 incident.
The “WAP” artiste, 32, had denied any physical altercation, testifying that she was pregnant at the time and only had a verbal disagreement with Ellis. She claimed the guard had violated her privacy by recording her during a doctor’s visit. While Ellis alleged the rapper struck her cheek, a doctor at the Beverly Hills OB-GYN office testified that they did not witness a physical altercation.
The verdict comes on the same day the Grammy winner was seen throwing a marker at a paparazzo outside the courthouse after he questioned her about pregnancy rumours. Cardi B reportedly reprimanded the photographer for showing “disrespect” before leaving the scene. The “Bodak Yellow” hitmaker is also facing a separate lawsuit stemming from a 2023 microphone-tossing incident in Las Vegas.
