The lawsuit revives an event that gained significant public attention. Video footage from the concert shows the rapper reacting to a drink being thrown at her by launching her microphone towards the audience. While Las Vegas police investigated the matter, no criminal charges were ultimately filed against Cardi B. It remains unclear if the individual filing the civil suit is the same person who filed the initial criminal complaint.
Reports from the time, including by TMZ, indicated that the drink was thrown after Cardi B had encouraged the crowd to “splash” her with water due to the intense 105-degree Fahrenheit heat. However, the lawsuit alleges the microphone directly hit the plaintiff.
The microphone itself later became a collector’s item, selling for $100,000 at auction, with proceeds benefiting the Wounded Warrior Project and Friendship Circle Las Vegas.
