The Instagram profile of pop star Britney Spears has vanished from the platform shortly after news broke of her arrest for driving under the influence in Ventura County, California, per pagesix.com.
Visitors to the 44-year-old singer’s page are currently met with a standard error message stating the link may be broken or the page has been removed. This sudden deactivation follows an incident on Wednesday night where the California Highway Patrol took Spears into custody at approximately 9:28pm.
Official records from the Ventura County Sheriff’s Department indicate that the Grammy winner was detained for three hours before being released early Thursday morning. This latest legal complication comes on the heels of several months of erratic public appearances and social media posts, including a recent “wardrobe malfunction” during a dance video shared just last week.
Spears’ history with traffic-related incidents has been a point of concern for fans; last October, she was filmed driving away from a Thousand Oaks restaurant following reports of erratic behaviour. While staff at the venue claimed she had not ordered alcohol, witnesses alleged she nearly struck a friend while exiting the car park.
Spears is currently scheduled to appear in court on May 4.
