The British Council Nigeria is set to host a major creative symposium in Lagos, bringing together innovators to explore how digital tools are preserving African heritage and shaping its future.
The Culture Grows Symposium will take place on Saturday, 6 December 2025, at the MADhouse, University of Lagos, Akoka. This year’s theme, “Heritage in the Digital Age: Indigenous Knowledge and Technology,” will showcase how creatives across Nigeria and Africa are using digital platforms to build identity, advance storytelling, design, craft, music, and fashion.

Hosted in partnership with Tikera Africa, the event will feature a diverse range of voices from the creative ecosystem, including artists, designers, technologists, curators, filmmakers, digital creators, and cultural heritage practitioners.

Key highlights of the programme include:
* Panel Conversations on crucial topics such as identity, ownership, and creative futures.
* TED-style talks from both leading figures and emerging innovators.
* Immersive VR experiences offering a new perspective on cultural festivals and archives.
* Breakout sessions focusing on African storytelling, digital virality, and community-driven innovation.
* A vibrant culture and craft market showcasing the work of local makers.
The symposium is designed as a space for learning, networking, and collaboration at the intersection of heritage, creativity and technology.
The event runs from 9am to 7:30pm, with hybrid participation options available for those unable to attend in person.
