The NLNG has announced the postponement of the 2020 cycle of the prizes to 2021.The information was conveyed in emails sent to those whose works were entered for the 2020 prizes for The Nigeria Prize for Science, The Nigeria Prize for Literature and The Nigeria Prize for Literary Criticism.The full text of the August 10, 2020 email signed by Sophia Horsfall, Manager, Corporate Communication and Public Affairs reads:
“Compliments from the Advisory Boards of the Nigeria Prizes and the sponsor, Nigeria LNG Limited. We hope you are keeping safe during this COVID 19 pandemic.
This is to acknowledge the receipt of your entry for the 2020 Cycle of the Nigeria Prize for Literature.
The Advisory Boards for The Nigeria Prize for Science, The Nigeria Prize for Literature and The Nigeria Prize for Literary Criticism, have announced the postponement of the 2020 cycle of the prizes to 2021.
The decision to postpone the three Prizes this year was reached after assessing the impact of the Coronavirus pandemic (COVID-19) on the Prize cycles. The competition, alongside entries submitted for all the prizes this year, will now be carried over to 2021.
