‘Bond 26’ set for 2027 release as Amazon takes the wheel with £250m budget

In a thrilling update for 007 fans, “Bond 26” has reportedly been fast-tracked by Amazon MGM, with a release date slated for late 2027, per independent.co.uk. The announcement comes after Amazon secured full creative control of the iconic franchise in a landmark deal with longtime producers Michael G Wilson and Barbara Broccoli. While the duo will retain co-ownership, Amazon’s $1 billion investment has shaken the production into high gear, promising a fresh era for the British spy.

The upcoming film is rumoured to boast a staggering £250 million budget, matching the cost of Daniel Craig’s final outing, No Time to Die. According to The Sun, writers’ rooms are already being assembled to craft a reboot that will recoup Amazon’s investment swiftly. A source revealed, “The Bond bosses had already proposed broad plots and reboot ideas,” hinting at a bold new direction for the franchise.

The search for the next Bond has also intensified, with Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Harris Dickinson and James Norton leading the rumour mill. Taylor-Johnson, however, has remained coy about the speculation, stating, “I don’t feel like I need to have a future drawn out for me.”

Amazon’s acquisition is expected to spawn spin-offs, but the streaming giant is prioritising the mainline film to meet fan expectations. Production is slated to wrap by the end of 2026, ensuring the film’s 2027 release will mark the longest gap between Bond films since GoldenEye in 1995. Fans can only wait—and speculate—on who will next don the iconic tuxedo.
