Bob Dylan’s voice lends soul to MGK’s new album trailer

Bob Dylan has lent his distinct voice to narrate the trailer for MGK’s highly anticipated new album, “Lost Americana,” according to pitchfork.com. The news comes months after the folk icon, the 2016 Nobel Prize in Literature winner, sparked buzz by sharing an old video of the rapper-turned-rocker on his Instagram.

The “Lost Americana” trailer, directed by Sam Cahill, features Dylan’s unmistakable narration, describing the album as “a personal excavation of the American dream, a journey to find what’s been lost.” He goes on to call it “a love letter to those who seek to rediscover—the dreamers, the drifters, the defiant,” promising a “sonic map of forgotten places.”

While MGK himself hasn’t formally confirmed Dylan’s involvement, a photo of the legendary singer-songwriter on his Instagram story, coupled with Dylan’s voice, strongly suggests the unlikely collaboration is authentic. Pitchfork has sought comment from both artists’ representatives.

“Lost Americana,” the follow-up to MGK’s 2022 release Mainstream Sellout, is set to drop on August 8. The album will feature the recently released single “Cliché.” This unique team-up bridges generations and genres, setting a bold tone for MGK’s latest musical journey.
