The 20th annual BET Awards yesterday was a study in virtual excellence with a series of amazing, well-curated, virtual performances that left nothing to the imagination.
But our most memorable moment would have to be Burna Boys win. Nigeria’s favourite and a nominee for the best international act category, Burna Boy clichéd the award yet again, just like he did at last year’s event.
His speech aligned the narrative of the exodus of Africans through slave trade in 1895 and a call that black lives will begin to matter, when Africans start to matter.
Congrats to Burna Boy for this amazing feat.
Let’s do it again next year?
