Ben Affleck rushes to ex-wife’s aid during LA wildfire crisis

Ben Affleck Tuesday raced to the aid of his ex-wife Jennifer Garner and their three children as devastating wildfires threatened Los Angeles’ Pacific Palisades neighbourhood, per hellomagazine.com. The 52-year-old actor was spotted making his way to Garner’s rental home after mandatory evacuation orders were issued for the area.

Donning a green hooded jacket, Affleck helped evacuate their children – Violet, 19, Fin, 16, and Samuel, 12 – from the danger zone. The following day, witnesses reported seeing the Batman star checking on neighbours in his Brentwood community, demonstrating continued concern for the area’s residents.

The wildfire has become the most destructive in modern Los Angeles history, consuming over 10,000 acres and forcing more than 30,000 residents to evacuate. President Joe Biden has authorised additional Department of Defense support for firefighting efforts as multiple blazes continue to threaten the region.

The crisis has impacted numerous celebrities, including Reese Witherspoon, Tom Hanks and Jamie-Lee Curtis. Reality TV stars Spencer Pratt and Heidi Montag have already lost their home to the flames. The disaster has claimed five lives, prompting California Governor Gavin Newsom to declare a state of emergency.

The timing of the crisis coincides with Affleck’s recent divorce finalisation from Jennifer Lopez, which was settled just a day before the evacuation. Garner, who was married to Affleck from 2005 to 2018, has been residing near his home while her Brentwood farmhouse undergoes renovations.

The Los Angeles City Fire Department continues to urge residents in affected areas to evacuate immediately, emphasising the importance of keeping roads clear for first responders and evacuees.
